Seventh Annual Guam International Film Festival

 

 

 

 This Friday’s episode of “Beyond the Fence” features the Seventh Annual Guam International Film Festival, which will be held at the Guam Museum in Hagatna from Sept. 27 to Oct. 1.

 

  Episode 264 highlights four films relevant to the program’s theme.

 

   In the first half of this episode, Beyond the Fence highlights two WWII documentary films that explore the human toll for individuals on both sides of the conflict and the importance of remembering and re-narrating this past.     

 

  The second half highlights two films that explore critical contemporary issues: first, the growing U.S. military enlistment of Federated States of Micronesia citizens and, second, the beauty and importance of our oceans and current threats. 

 

  Guests include Kel Muna, GIFF program director;

Galvin Deleon Guerrero, director of  “We Drank Our Tears: Francisco Babauta’s Story;” Kelvin Cepeda, a senior at Mt. Carmel School; Nathan Fitch, filmmaker and visual journalist based in Brooklyn; and Craig Santos Perez, CHamoru poet-activist.

     Hosted by Dr. Vivian Dames and produced by David Lopez, “Beyond the Fence” airs at noon on the first and third  Friday of the month on
