Guam flooded with job opportunities at UOG job fair with over 70 participating employers

By Pacific Island Times News Staff

Guam's job market continues to soar with hundreds of employment opportunities offered by more than 70 employers participating in the University of Guam Career Development Office's job fair slated for April 26, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the UOG Calvo Field House.

Job openings in the private, public and military sectors include various positions in multiple industries such as tourism, dining, retail, health care, insurance, construction, telecommunications, finance and defense among others.

According to the Guam Department of Labor,  September 2023 marked a significant upswing in employment opportunities across industries on island, ending years of a pandemic-triggered job drought.

Labor officials said hiring announcements have not received adequate responses from jobseekers. However, some residents posted comments on social media claiming job applicants were not receiving responses from employers.

Guam's unemployment rate stands at 4.1 percent in the September 2023 quarter, according to the government's latest report.

"Job applicants are also encouraged to update their profiles on social media and online networking sites such as Handshake, LinkedIn and Facebook before they head for the job fair," UOG said in a press release.
