H2 visa provisions affecting the Marianas in the National Defense Authorization Act were on the agenda when newly confirmed Assistant Secretary of Defense for Energy, Installations, and Environment Lucian Niemeyer met with Congressman Gregorio 'Kilili' Camacho Sablan Sunday on Saipan.
The Defense Act will be a top priority when Congress resumes in September. Sablan and Niemeyer also discussed the importance of funding the Palau Compact extension in this year’s Defense Act; and the two agreed to meet again in Washington after Niemeyer completes his tour of the Pacific.
Niemeyer, along with Rear Admiral Shoshana Chatfield, Commander, Joint Region Marianas, and their teams also toured Tinian.
