Veterans Day message from Governor Calvo

Veterans Day ceremony at Governor Joseph Flores Memorial Park (Ypao Beach) Saturday morning

Hafa Adai my friends and family,

On Nov. 11, our island and our nation honors our veterans. We remember the sacrifice made in our Nation's name by these brave men and women. They took time away from their families, and even their lives to protect the rights and freedoms afforded to our people.

Our veterans represent the very best of America, our Micronesian region and our island. Hundreds of sons and daughters of Micronesia gave their lives so we could live ours.

From World War II to battles in Iraq, our people understand the price of war. We are intimately familiar with the price that had to be paid for the peace we have enjoyed for decades. You give us hope. You are freedom's heroes, the defenders of justice, and promoters of peace.

We salute all the men and women who bravely answered the call to freedom and we will always remember your service so that we can be free.

We thank you.We stand with you. And we love you.

The Guam Veterans Day Ceremony will be held this Saturday, November 11, 2017, at the Governor Joseph Flores Memorial Park (Ypao Beach) in Tumon. The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m.

“We join our nation in celebration of our veterans,” Governor Eddie Baza Calvo said. “We will never forget the sacrifices they make every day for our country and our island.”

Our island is proud to pay tribute to our men and women in uniform by honoring our heroes every year. This civic celebration recognizes the brave soldiers and their families who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our liberty and freedom."

“We thank the men and women in uniform for their heroism, bravery, and dedication. We want to invite everyone to join us in this ceremony of recognition where we can show our gratitude for all they do,” Lt. Governor Ray Tenorio stated.
