No word on whether the possibly contaminated packages reached Guam, Saipan or Micronesia
The Guam Department of Public Health and Social Services and the U.S. Department of Agriculture are telling the public about a recall by Tyson Foods, Inc., a Sedalia, Missouri food establishment involving 36,420 pounds of “Tyson White Meat Panko Chicken Nuggets” that may be contaminated with extraneous materials, specifically rubber.
The possibly contaminated product is packaged as Tyson White Meat Panko Chicken Nuggets in a five pound package, which was packed Nov. 26 2018.
The affected commodities were shipped to retail locations nationwide.
The problem was discovered when Tyson Foods Inc. received consumer complaints of extraneous material in purchased chicken nugget products. USDA stated that there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Due to the concern that affected products may be frozen and in consumers’ freezers, consumers are urged to identify whether any of these items were purchased and to not consume them. Consumers are strongly advised to either discard the affected products or return them to the place of purchase.
The Division of Environmental Health of this Department is currently conducting a recall effectiveness check with local retail stores and wholesalers to determine if the affected product is being sold or distributed on island. Currently, there has been no determination that the affected products are available on Guam.
