Fake FaceBook page for Governor Leon Guerrero

By now almost anyone with a presence on FaceBook has had the experience. Someone you know turns up as a proposed FB friend. You click on the link, send a message to your new friend and that's about it.

Except when it isn't.

Bogus FB pages are a pretty lively part of the FB experience and prominent and everyday parties are hacked in this way all the time.

Guam's newly sworn in governor is no exception to the rule, though this copycat "friend" isn't particularly clever, saying, among other things that she "works at Guam elective Governor act."

And only minutes after the author experimentally befriended the "Governor," the text message started up with an offer of $70,000 in federal money. Never mind the improbability of the Maga Haga communicating such a thing to one individual on FaceBook at 7 a.m. on a Monday or any other day.

Fortunately, it's pretty easy to defriend a bogus friend.
