Top contender out of UOG president search

Dr. Anita Borja Enriquez

As the controversy afflicted search for a new University of Guam president moves forward, the former top contender, Dr. Hamid Shirvani has officially withdrawn and will not be visiting the campus next week.

And the school's presidential selection committee, which has been criticized for not coming up with any local candidates for the job, has decided to invite two previous semi-finalists, Dr. Anita Borja Enriquez and Dr. Ronald Larsen to be finalists. Two previously named finalists, Dr. Thomas W. Krise and Dr. Bruce T. Murphy continue to be part of the ongoing search.

Dr. Ronald Larsen

Anita Borja Enriquez is Senior Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs and Accreditation Liaison of the WASC Senior College and University Commission at the University of Guam.

Ron Larsen served as interim Chancellor of Montana State College Billings from January 2017 to May 2018. He currently serves as Vice Provost at the school.

The finalists will meet with various Guam elected officials, starting with the governor and a range of UOG officials, faculty and students. The final selection will be made by the UOG Board of Regents.
