Vaccination eligibility group expanded





The Vaccine and Antiviral Prioritization Policy Committee (VAPPC), during its meeting on Monday approved expanded eligibility for individuals who are also considered Phase 1a essential workers as defined by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommended guidelines for phasing categories:

  • Mayors’ Council of Guam (limited to mayors, vice mayors and mayoral staff)

  • Funeral homes, mortuary, and cemetery staff

  • Service providers contracted with the Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS) Division of Senior Citizens providing direct patient or client care, such as transportation for medical appointments, homebound meals, in-home services, caregiver services, case management, shelter care, adult daycare, and other direct services

Additionally, the VAPPC approved the expansion of the Phase 1c category, which now includes individuals 55 years of age and older


Effective immediately, these additional groups will be accepted at all vaccination sites. Additional groups may be added upon further evaluation of vaccination supply levels, participation from the new eligibility groups, and compliance from patients who are due for their second doses.



Twenty-one new cases of Covid-19 were identified out of 895 tests performed by the DPHSS on Sunday and tests from additional labs from Friday, Jan. 29 to 31. Eighteen cases reported recent travel history and were identified in quarantine. One case was identified through contact tracing.

To date, there have been a total of 7,608 officially reported cases of Covid-19 with 129 deaths, 102 cases in active isolation and 7,377 not in active isolation.
