GMH operations update

Following the anticipated declaration of Condition of Readiness (COR) 2, Guam Memorial Hospital will begin accepting eligible expectant mothers at 7 a.m. on Sunday.

GMH will accept:

  • Pregnant mothers who are 36 weeks gestation or greater

  • High-risk pregnant mothers who are 24 weeks gestation or greater

Expectant mothers who are uncertain whether they meet the high-risk criteria are encouraged to consult their healthcare provider. Upon arrival, patients should report to the Patient Registration Office on the first floor. Expectant mothers will be accommodated in a designated area and will remain at GMH until it is safe to return home following the storm.

GMH has temporarily suspended elective outpatient appointments, elective outpatient procedures, elective surgeries, and other non-emergency clinical services to prioritize emergency preparedness and essential patient care ahead of Typhoon Bavi.

Patients affected by these temporary service suspensions are being notified directly and will be contacted to reschedule once normal operations resume.

The GMH Emergency Department will remain open 24 hours a day, and inpatient services and other essential hospital operations will continue without interruption throughout the storm.

Upon the anticipated declaration of COR 2, the following additional operational changes will take effect until the declaration of COR 4:

  • Routine visitation will be suspended, except for approved patient watchers.

  • Family viewings will be suspended.

For life-threatening medical emergencies, call 911 immediately. Emergency medical response will continue throughout the storm, subject to weather conditions and operational safety.

Individuals requiring emergency medical care may continue to seek treatment at the GMH Emergency Department, which will remain open 24 hours a day throughout the storm.

For non-emergency medical concerns, residents are encouraged to contact their healthcare provider once weather conditions improve or seek medical care when it is safe to travel.
