Explore themes of storytelling, resilience and cultural connection through two distinct creative perspectives at a new art exhibition at the Guam Museum.
"Different Visions, One Horizon," featuring artist Yeon Sook Park and first-time exhibitor Ofelita "Gigi" Magtoto, opened Aug. 1 and will remain on display through Sept. 15.
For Park, the exhibition reflects nearly four decades of living and creating art in Guam after moving from Korea.

"Different Visions, One Horizon" is "a very meaningful exhibition for me because it reflects my journey of becoming an artist in the place I now call home," Park said.
She said Guam's ocean, culture, people and natural beauty have shaped her work over the years, particularly her underwater themes, fish and CHamoru-inspired seascapes.
"My artwork has always been a reflection of my connection with the sea," Park said, adding that she now views her art as "a bridge between my Korean roots and my life in Guam, between nature and people, and between different stories that can come together through art."
The exhibition centers on storytelling, community and resilience. Park said the selected pieces draw from her experiences and relationship with the ocean, which she described as representing "life's journey, its beauty, movement, challenges and the ability to keep going."

She said she hopes visitors will see their own experiences reflected in the artwork and leave with "a sense of hope, harmony and belonging." Park added that art can provide comfort, healing and connection beyond its visual appeal.
Park also said sharing the exhibition with Magtoto has been meaningful because it demonstrates how artists with different backgrounds and styles can complement one another.
"Although our artistic styles and life experiences are different, we both express our personal stories and emotions through art," Park said.
