$512,759 opioid abuse grant to Guam drug monitoring program


The Department of Public Health and Social Services has announced that its Division of Environmental Health was awarded the Comprehensive Opioid Abuse Site-Based Program grant in the amount of $512,759 by the Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice. The grant will expand DEH’s existing Guam Prescription Drug Monitoring Program, which is an electronic prescription drug monitoring database used to assist healthcare providers and law enforcement identify, deter, and prevent prescription drug abuse and misuse.

The COAP grant will enable DEH to collaborate with the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands in the prevention of prescription drug abuse and diversion in both jurisdictions, and increase the data analysis capabilities of the Guam PDMP database.
