Gov. Calvo statement on passing of Sen. John McCain III

Guam Governor Calvo and Lt. Governor Ray Tenorio call on the community to join them in praying for the family of Senator John McCain’s passing.

Governor Calvo: “We are deeply saddened to hear of Senator McCain’s passing. He was a United States Senator, a war hero, and a man who stood up for his beliefs – working with others across political lines to find solutions. First Lady Christine and I extend our heartfelt sympathies to his wife Cindy and the McCain family.” Lt. Governor Ray Tenorio: “The nation lost an American hero today. He believed in America and the principals that made this nation great - decency, integrity, and accountability. Madoka and I send our prayers and condolences to his family.” The island of Guam mourns the loss and celebrates the extraordinary life of the “Maverick Hero” who reminds us that we must always strive for the ideal. Senator McCain’s legacy will stand as an example to all of us to persist in our pursuit of progress.
