Guam Micronesia Island Fair to celebrate Pacific cultures and traditions

Cultural delegates from the island region will gather on Guam in October for the 38th Guam Micronesia Island Fair, an annual celebration featuring Pacific arts and crafts, music, cuisines, traditional performances and other cultural activities.

Themed “The Tides and Traditions of Micronesia,” the island fair will be held from Oct. 23 to 25 at Governor Joseph Flores Memorial Park in Tumon.

GMIF is one of the Guam Visitors Bureau's signature events.

“GMIF is something we look forward to because it brings our region together right here on Guam,” said Regine Biscoe Lee, GVB president & CEO. “We invite the entire community to walk through the fair and hear different languages, see traditional performances, taste foods from our neighboring islands and meet the people who keep these traditions going. It’s a wonderful reminder of how much we have in common, and an opportunity to celebrate each island’s story.”

“GMIF has always been about bringing people together,” said Ina Carillo, GVB director of destination development.

“We want people to come out, spend the day at Ypao, enjoy the performances, try something new and take the time to talk to the people behind the cultures we’re celebrating. There’s a lot to discover, and we’re excited to welcome everyone," she added.
