Mainland China buys in to Yap Micro Games


Chinese Ambassador Lie Jie, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China presents $200,000 donation

Colonia — A state reception was held in honor of Lie Jie, ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the FSM, on Jan. 4in Colonia to mark the cash donation of $200,000 from the Municipal Government of Zhongshan City, Guangdong Province China to the Government of Yap State.

The donation is to be used for a new volleyball gymnasium to be erected at the Yap Sports Complex in preparation for the 2018 Micro Games. Governor Tony Ganngiyan accepted the check and signed the handover certificate with Ambassador Li. In attendance were representatives of the Yap State Leadership, the FSM National Government, the 2018 Micro Games Organizing Committee and the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the FSM.

After the MicroGames, the prefabricated building will be moved to the campus of Yap High School and installed for multipurpose use.
