There is a fake message that was inserted into our local social media circuit. It shares false information supposedly coming from the Navy regarding North Korea.
We have vetted this message through the Mariana Regional Fusion Center (MRFC) as well as reached out to our Navy partners.
“Unfortunately, we have seen our share of false messages like these that do nothing but stir fear in the hearts and minds of our people,” Governor Calvo stated. “We are sharing all information that we have with you because this community understands that preparation is key to being safe, and your safety is paramount to this administration.”
Lt. Governor Ray Tenorio noted: “Our team at Adelup along with the Office of Civil Defense will send out information on any emergency as it comes up along with instructions on what to do, just as they do for typhoons and other disasters. If you receive or see information on Facebook, WhatsApp or any other social media and it didn’t come from us, then please let us know about it so we can confirm whether it is accurate.”
