Docomo joins AT&T to support FirstNet deployment in the region

Roderick Boss

Docomo Pacific was recently selected by AT&T to help support the deployment of FirstNet– America’s public safety communications platform – in both Guam and the CNMI.

FirstNet delivers a single, nationwide network platform that’s purpose-built to enhance communications across the entire public safety community.

FirstNet is available to all first responders – career and volunteer, urban, rural or tribal. And it’s bringing public safety communications into the 21st century with new, innovative capabilities, helping first responders connect to the critical information they need – every day and in every emergency.

FirstNet is being built with AT&T in a public-private partnership with the First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet Authority) – an independent agency within the federal government.

“Our island communities are all too familiar with the destructive forces nature can bring to our region.,” said Roderick Boss, president and CEO of Docomo Pacific. “The key to staying ready and responding is effective and reliable communication— which is exactly what FirstNet is designed to enable for our region’s first responders.”

Based on the collaboration with AT&T, Docomo Pacific will provide access to its existing LTE network coverage and capacity while helping to build out additional LTE coverage with the FirstNet Band 14 spectrum.

“We’re pleased to support the FirstNet mission. This will help transform the way Guam and CNMI’s Public Safety and emergency officials share information quickly when they need to most. So, when lives are on the line, we can rest assured knowing our public safety officials are equipped and have the necessary tools to communicate with our island community,” Boss said.

Docomo Pacific is an authorized member of AT&T’s FirstNet Dealer Program, which means it can sell FirstNet services to eligible current and future public safety customers. This will help get FirstNet’s game-changing technology into the hands of first responders throughout the region.
