WestCare Pacific Islands is offering support for federal workers and households experiencing financial hardship amid the continuing federal shutdown, which has entered day 36, making it the longest shutdown in American history.
"WPI recognizes the challenges that many families are facing during this uncertain time and wants to ensure that resources and assistance are available to help ease the burden," WPI said.
There were 3,372 federal civilian employees in Guam as of Sept. 12, according to a Congress.gov report.
For a limited time, WPI is offering the following forms of assistance:
Food Pantry Support:Â Access to essential food and household items.
Temporary Financial Assistance:Â Support with utilities, rent, or mortgage payments for up to one month, based on eligibility and available funding.
Program Services: Eligibility-based access to ongoing support through WPI’s housing, behavioral health, and family-strengthening programs.
WPI said applicants will be asked to provide supporting documentation to verify eligibility and determine the appropriate type of assistance.
WPI encourages federal workers and families in need to reach out for support and invites community organizations to share this information with their networks.
