Taiwanese vessel seized in FSM; crew arrested for shark finning



The Federated States of Micronesia authorities have arrested the crew leaders of Queen Isabella 88 and seized the Taiwanese vessel owned by Citypro Management Ltd. (CML), which has been sued by the FSM government for shark finning.


According to the Office of the President, the FSM National Police arrested the vessel's captain, Wu Ming Kuo, master Hsiu-Sheng Lai, the chief engineer, and Park Min Gyu, assistant engineer, Yoon Sung Tae on July 10 following the FSM Supreme Court's issuance of a warrant of arrest.


Queen Isabella 88 is currently anchored at the AnchorageArea and under Surveillance watch.


CML and its crew leaders have been criminally charged in the FSM Supreme Court for the removal of shark fins, misreporting catches and mishandling of whale shark


The FSM national government anticipates the court to set a hearing this week.
