Philippine Airlines today announced the launch of thrice-weekly nonstop flights between Guam and Cebu starting Dec. 16, establishing the only direct air link between the two destinations and complementing the flag carrier’s existing daily Guam-Manila service.

PAL said the expansion will reinforce Cebu’s role as an international gateway for both business and leisure travelers.

The Philippines flag carrier said the new service underscores PAL’s long-standing commitment to expand regional access and support the growing

demand for convenient travel options between the U.S. Pacific territory and the Philippines.

Flights from Guam to Cebu will operate every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, departing at 5:15 a.m. and arriving at 6:50 a.m.

Return flights from Cebu to Guam will depart every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 9:40 p.m. arriving at 3:25 a.m. local time. The service will be operated using PAL’s Airbus A321ceo aircraft.

“This new service provides Guam’s large Filipino community and travelers from the U.S. Pacific territory direct access to the Visayas and Mindanao regions, while enhancing Cebu’s role as a strategic gateway to international markets,” said Richard Nuttall, PAL president. “It reflects our commitment to

growing our network and supporting economic and tourism flows between Guam and the Philippines.”

“We are extremely pleased to welcome this additional service connecting the

Philippines and Guam,” said John Quinata, executive manager of Guam International Airport Authority. “We congratulate our signatory partner, Philippine Airlines for this strong show of support and commitment

to Guam and look forward to seeing the steady flow of passengers between our island and Cebu.”

Cebu, a Philippine province located in the Central Visayas, is the main aviation hub outside of Manila. More airlines are mounting direct domestic and international flights out of the Mactan-Cebu International Airport.

Aviation industry leaders in the Philippines noted that Cebu’s growing economy and strategic location make it an ideal alternative terminal to decongest Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila.

Cebu is famous for its sparkling waters, Sinulog Festival and landmarks from its 16th-century Spanish colonial past.

PAL said the Guam-Cebu flights are part of its ongoing strategy to broaden its international reach beyond Manila.

From Cebu, PAL currently offers direct flights to Ho Chi Minh, Incheon, Narita

and Osaka, alongside domestic connections to Manila, Siargao, Bacolod, Caticlan, Iloilo, Puerto Princesa, Davao, Cagayan de Oro, Butuan, and Busuanga. These services provide seamless same-day connections for travelers across the Visayas and Mindanao to international markets.

“With the introduction of this new direct connection, we are making it easier for our Guam-based passengers to reach Cebu, one of the Philippines’ most vibrant cities and a gateway to Visayas and Mindanao,” said Israel Fontanilla, operations manager at Philippine Airlines and Goodwind Travel and Tour.

Guam, home to a Filipino community that accounts for nearly 30 percent

of its 179,000 residents, represents a vital link in PAL’s U.S. network, which

also includes Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Seattle, and Honolulu.

“This new service also strengthens travel and cultural ties between Guam and the Philippines while providing more choices for both leisure and business travelers," Fontanilla said.
