The Guam Visitors Bureau has relaunched a signature event in a bid to revitalize the island's tourism industry.
Over 3,000 residents and visitors converged in Tumon during the opening night of GVB's Tumon Night Market on Aug. 3.
Over 45 vendors lined the strip of Pale San Vitores Road, including 12 food trucks, 8 food booths, and 26 retail pop-up shops and interactive booths.
Shops and restaurants from the Dusit Place and the surrounding area also participated by offering Sunday Specials or erecting sidewalk stalls to sell their goods. The Sandcastle Guam provided a beer garden on their lawn, providing a fun and ambient sitting area at the end of the crowded block.
“GVB is pleased with the overwhelming turnout of the Tumon Night Market. It was amazing to see so many of our residents and visitors enjoy the evening and the diverse offerings from our local businesses and talented artists,” said Gerry Perez, acing GVB president
“We are grateful to the community for coming out to support the event and appreciate their patience as we continue to develop and improve this event over the coming weeks. We’re committed to making this a positive and memorable experience for all.”
GVB received much positive feedback from attendees, vendors, local businesses, and industry partners about the event and attributes much of its success to their partnership with event managers Adztech Guam, the collaboration with fellow agencies, and support of the public. Areas for improvement were also identified, primarily pertaining to traffic choke points in the parking areas, and adjustments are already in place as well as the possible addition of shuttle service for upcoming night markets.
