The Guam Department of Labor has commenced AI training in partnership with the University of Guam in an effort to keep pace with rapidly evolving technology.
“This is all part of an effort to modernize and streamline operations at our agency," said David Dell’Isola, labor director.
"We want more efficiency, faster processing for employers and job seekers, and better service delivery across the board, without sacrificing the personal touch that our clients expect from us," he added.
The training is the first in a new AI course developed by UOG’s Global Learning and Engagement and Pacific AI, Media and Communications, and is tailored specifically for GDOL staff.
The opening session, “AI Literacy and Foundations,” introduces employees to basic AI concepts, common tools, and responsible use in government.
This training marks the first step in a broader effort to integrate modern
technology into GDOL’s everyday operations, improve internal processes
and enhance services provided to Guam’s workers and employers.
It is the first of three training sessions that will culminate in staff maximizing the use of AI tools to deliver efficient, accurate, and customer-focused public service.
AI training continues throughout the week at UOG’s GL&E where nearly all
of GDOL’s staff will be participating.
