Guam reports 516 new Covid cases

The Department of Public Health and Social Services today reported 516 new cases of Covid-19 from 2,452 specimens analyzed on Jan. 11, further raising Guam's Covid Area Risk score to 228.4, the highest ever recorded on the island since the pandemic began in March 2020.

The tally for new infections includes new cases reported by the Department of Defense.


Hospitalizations remained relatively low at 17, with one ICU patient.


The government has not imposed new restrictions.


Of the total new infections, 116 cases were identified through contact tracing.


The department said 350 civilian cases were reported locally out of 1,952 tests. A total of 166 cases from 529 tests performed were reported through the Department of Defense.


To date, there have been a total of 22,056 officially reported cases, 273 deaths, 2,553 cases in active isolation, and 19,230 not in active isolation.
