Guam Memorial Hospital continues its search for a new administrator/chief executive officer to succeed Lilian Perez Posadas, who will retire on Sept. 30 after being in the hot seat for six years.

Posadas, a registered nurse, was appointed by Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero after assuming the top political post in January 2019.

She is the longest-serving head of the government hospital, known for its revolving door of leadership and perpetual crisis.

The GMH board of trustees said she has provided "steadfast leadership during her tenure at Guam's only public hospital."

"We extend our deepest gratitude to Lillian for her dedicated service and commitment to healthcare excellence on Guam," said Sharon Davis, board

chair. "Her leadership has been instrumental in advancing our mission to

provide quality healthcare services to the people of Guam and the region."

In a press release, GMH said Posadas demonstrated exceptional leadership in

overcoming operational funding shortfalls, aging facilities, and guiding the hospital through the unprecedented challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic. Her ability to steer GMH through these critical times ensured the hospital continued to deliver patient care.

The Board of Trustees is actively conducting a search for Posadas’ replacement. To ensure continuity of operations and leadership stability, the Board will name an interim CEO at their next scheduled meeting on September 24, 2025.

"We are committed to a smooth transition that maintains our high standards of patient care and operational excellence," Davis said. "The interim appointment will provide steady leadership while we complete our thorough selection process for the next CEO."

The search for the new hospital administrator/CEO remains ongoing, with the board reviewing applications of candidates who can build upon the strong foundation established during Posadas' leadership.
