CNMI reports 19th Covid death

Saipan-- The CNMI reported its 19th Covid-related death and 43 new positive cases. No information about the death was currently available.


The CNMI's Covid count was 3,561 cases since March 28, 2020.


The 43 new patients have been isolated and are actively monitored. Their vaccination statuses are pending verification.


Of the 43 cases, 13 were identified via contact tracing, 22 were identified via community testing, and 8 were identified via travel testing.

Two individuals have been confirmed positive for Covid-19 on Rota on Jan. 7. The cases were identified at the Rota Health Center. A total of four close contacts were identified and tested negative. Contact tracing will continue until all probable cases are identified and tested.

As of Jan. 6, there have been 2,763 recoveries made, 492 active cases, and 15 deaths (1 to be added later) of the cases identified since Oct. 28, 2021.

As of Jan. 7, there were 11 individuals hospitalized as a result of Covid-19 (7 unvaccinated, 4 vaccinated; 2 on a ventilator).
