AK offers Manila flyaway for Takata airbag replacements

Atkins Kroll announces its offer to all Toyota owners who have their defective Takata airbag inflator replaced a chance to win a vacation in Manila, Philippines.

“Safety is one of our top priorities at AK. Our goal is to replace every single affected airbag in the Mariana Islands,” said Alex Hammett, Atkins Kroll president.

Atkins Kroll, the regional distributor of Toyota, has sent out thousands of mailers and emails, made phone calls, posted messages on social media, and even knocked on doors. AK said it is taking a different approach to help communicate the message – defective Takata airbags are unsafe.

“We thank everyone who has had their airbags replaced, but there are still hundreds of owners who have not yet replaced their air bags. We thought a fun way to spread the word is to offer a flyaway grand prize in a lucky draw contest for a Manila vacation for two,” said Aftersales Operations Manager Arnold Sikat.

To enter the contest, registered owners of Toyota vehicles identified in a factory recall campaign for a Takata airbag replacement must have AK replace their Takata airbag. Toyota owners can verify if their vehicle is subject to a Takata airbag factory recall by visiting

Every Toyota owner with a replaced Takata airbag is automatically entered in the contest during the campaign period. The campaign period for this contest began Nov. 11, 2019 and will conclude Dec. 31, 2020.

Approximately 34 million vehicles from 19 automakers have potentially dangerous airbag inflators that could rupture when the airbag deploys, spraying sharp metal fragments inside the cabin. The recall began in 2013 and is the largest recall in automotive history.

“The replacement process time is short, but safety is a priority over convenience. We will continue to spread awareness and urge our affected customers to visit us. Airbags are meant to save lives, not take them and AK has the resolve and resources to save lives,” said Hammett.
