Don't fall for Xmas IRS scam on Guam!

Guam Attorney General Elizabeth Barrett-Anderson

The Consumer Protection Division of the Guam Attorney General’s Office has received calls from Guam consumers who have been contacted by scammers claiming to be from the Internal Revenue Service.

The contact is made via telephone from a Washington, D.C., area code 202, threatening the Guam consumer with an arrest warrant for failing to pay what is owed in taxes.

The Attorney General cautions Guam consumers that the IRS does not call, text or email official notifications to taxpayers. All IRS official notifications are sent in writing via postal mail.

Guam consumers are advised not to give the caller any personal information and hang up on any caller claiming to be from the IRS. Please report the incident to the Consumer Protection Division at (671) 475-3324 ext 3320 or 3255.
