Stakeholders in the region's contracting sector will have another opportunity to engage with senior leaders from the U.S. military and the local government at the annual Industry Forum organized by the Guam chapter of the Society of American Military Engineers, or SAME.

The two-day event, scheduled for July 28–30 at the Dusit Thani Guam Resort, "is a call to action for every business in our region," said Shierly Caceres, president of the SAME Guam Post.

"Guam is at a historic inflection point. The decisions being made right now about infrastructure, defense investment, and workforce development will shape the region’s future," she added.

The Department of Defense has committed approximately a $9 billion in investments in Guam and $800 million in the Northern Marianas through 2028

for the construction of new military facilities, upgrades to existing ones and the implementation of an integrated missile defense system.

"As Guam stands at the forefront of America's Indo-Pacific strategy, the demand for resilient infrastructure, coordinated planning and expanded industry capacity has never been greater," SAME said in a press release.

The Pentagon plans to invest $2 billion in the Federated States of Micronesia to build more projects that would enable U.S. forces to operate in the Pacific island nation, the Department of Defense said.

"I encourage every company, large or small, to be in that room," Caceres said, inviting businesses, contractors, engineers, architects and industry professionals from Guam, the CNMI, Indo-Pacific and the U.S. mainland to participate in the forum.

"The opportunities are real, more contracts are coming, and the time to build relationships with the people making those decisions is now. Don't wait. Register early and come ready to engage," she added.

The SAME Guam Industry Forum is the region's premier platform for defense, government and private sector leaders to align priorities, share strategic insights, and forge the partnerships that will define Guam's future.

Last year's forum drew more than 1,200 participants.
