Sunergize, New Zealand’s leading commercial rooftop solar provider, has acquired Todd’s Pacific operations, making it the largest privately-owned commercial and industrial solar company in the Pacific.
The acquisition completes Sunergise’s buyback of the solar companies it sold to Todd in 2018 and reinforces the company’s long-term vision, according to Paul Makumbe, the company's founder and CEO.
Last year, Sunergise acquired Vector’s PowerSmart and brought together three of the Pacific’s most established renewable energy operators, allowing Sunergise to grow its offerings across the region.
As part of the Sunergise Group, PowerSmart and Todd’s Pacific Solar Operations, which includes Fiji-based Clay Energy, will continue operating as standalone brands. They will benefit from expanded capital, engineering and project development capability.
“Sunergise has always been about building long-term energy resilience for New Zealand and the Pacific,” said Makumbe.
“Acquiring Todd’s Pacific operations, after buying PowerSmart from Vector, strengthens our ability to support more customers and deliver renewable infrastructure that genuinely enables the energy transition across NZ and the Pacific,” he added.
“By bringing together the deep technical expertise of Sunergise, PowerSmart and Clay Energy, we now offer unrivalled capability in both remote microgrids that reduce reliance on fossil fuels and large-scale commercial and industrial solar. This combination positions us strongly for the next phase of growth across the Pacific and New Zealand.”
The group has delivered large-scale solar projects throughout the Pacific for more than 25 years, spanning Fiji, Tonga, New Zealand, and the wider South Pacific.
In New Zealand, Sunergise has built the country’s largest rooftop solar installation at Manawa Bay shopping centre, and is working on major projects for corporate and industrial clients.
The Group is currently working on renewable energy installations across New Zealand, Fiji, Niue, Tokelau, Vanuatu and the Cook Islands.
Sunergise Group now comprises Sunergise, PowerSmart, and Clay Energy, employing 75 people across Auckland, Tauranga and Suva.
Collectively, the Group has delivered more than 170 large-scale renewable energy projects across Oceania, deploying 42.8MWp of solar PV, enough to power around 10,000 New Zealand homes every year.
