Business Brief: Triple J, Guam Girl Scouts team up to equip young women with car care skills

Triple J Auto Group partnered with the Guam Girl Scouts to host a hands-on Car Care Day Camp for senior and ambassador Girl Scouts (grades 9–12), helping them earn their Car Care badge and develop practical automotive knowledge and safety awareness.
The one-day camp, held July 18 at the Guam Girl Scouts headquarters, introduced the Girl Scouts to essential vehicle checks and basic maintenance skills, from checking oil levels and tire pressure to jumpstarting a battery and changing a flat tire.
Triple J’s Mobile Service Van was also featured, demonstrating on-the-go maintenance and repair capabilities.
Adding to the significance of the event, Triple J’s Katelyn Hilario, a female technician high school intern, served as an instructor, showing the girls how women are driving change in the automotive industry.
“This event was an incredible opportunity to equip these young women with skills that will give them confidence and independence behind the wheel,” said Jay Jones, executive vice president for Triple J.
“This partnership with Triple J Auto Group offered our Girl Scouts a unique and empowering experience,” said Samantha Owen, executive director of Guam Girl Scouts. “By learning hands-on automotive skills and seeing women in the industry leading the way, these young women are gaining confidence, independence, and practical knowledge that will serve them for years to come.”
In addition to the hands-on service portion, the day camp included a dealership visit at the Triple J Ford main location in Upper Tumon, where the girls explored various vehicles, learned about their safety features, fuel efficiency and intended uses, and received tips for future car-buying decisions.
“We’re honored to support the Guam Girl Scouts in helping develop their members’ life skills,” said Bruce Meno, Triple J’s parts & service director. “Seeing the girls engage with our team and our Mobile Service Van highlights how our industry can inspire and empower the next generation.”
