Guam's 2017 'Environmental Warrior' is Emma Sheedy

A member of Guam's national track and field team ran to the finish to be crowned Miss Earth Guam 2017.

Emma Sheedy topped 16 other candidates for the right to represent the Guam at the 2017 Miss Earth finals to be held in the Philippines. She also was named Best in Evening Gown and Miss Photogenic in the pageant.

Sheedy is a reporter for the Guam Sports Network as well as part ofthe national olympics team.

Her court, consisting of runner-ups, included Miss Air Jestyne Sablan, Miss Water Jenna Deena Panuelo and Miss Fire Julia Naputi Rivera.

The rest of the Top 10 were Cirgida Reyes, Darlene Mae Gatchalian, Champain Aguon, Jaime Soriano, Tasi Marie Peredo and Tyler Torres.

Other special awards went top Sablan (Best in Native wear), Peredo (Best in Swimsuit), Aguon (Miss Friendship) and Julia RIvera (Miss Environmental Warriors).

Guam has been joining the Miss Earth pageant since 2008.
