The Office of Sen. Joe S. San Agustin warned the public about a fake letter supposedly design to scam unsuspecting victims.
"Over the past week, the office of Sen. Joe S. San Agustin was approached by several individuals regarding a letter penned by the senator to a highranking official in the U.S. concerning a transfer of currency and investments for a cannabis operation on Guam," reads a press release from the senator's office.
"At first glance, the letter and its attachment were not on the senator’s official letterhead causing the office to immediately determine the documents to be false and not having been issued by the office. It appeared that the documents were intended to defraud individuals or families of their hard-earned money by investing in a scam."
“I am greatly concerned that there are people who are distributing these documents in an effort to harm individuals and families in our community. I kindly ask that anyone who may have these documents in their possession or may feel have been victims of a scam, please come by my office and submit them to us.
Together, let us bring an end to this issue that has already caused harm among several members of our community,” San Agustin said.
