Following the announcement of a second daily flight between San Francisco and Hong Kong, Chicago-based United Airlines announced additional flights between Guam and Japan. However, the new flights will also come with the end of its services between Guam and Hong Kong.
United will be upgrading its four-times weekly evening Guam-Nagoya flights (UA171/172) to a daily flight starting October 28. The airline will use Boeing 737 aircraft, adding 500 seats weekly on the route.
“United is committed to continuing to invest in the Japan market for Guam, and we are excited to add capacity between Guam and Nagoya to make its service twice-daily to meet its increasing demand,” said Sam Shinohara, United managing director for Airport Operations for the Asia/Pacific. “United is deeply committed to the Guam market, where we have been operating for more than 50 years and we have been closely working with stakeholders to increase demand for travel between Japan and Guam. Added seat capacity in this market is a great sign that business is strengthening, which is positive news for Guam’s tourism industry.”
The other change that United is making on Guam is the end of its four-times weekly flights between Guam and Hong Kong which will end on Oct. 27. (Flights in Asia)
