Palik, Christian win in congressional special election

Palikir-- Former Federated States of Micronesia president Peter M. Christian has been officially declared winner in Pohnpei's at-large seat, having received 6,060 votes or 46.46 percent of all votes cast. Aren B. Palik won Kosrae’s at-large seat, with 1,916 votes or 54.0 percent of all votes cast. FSM voters went to the polling places on July 2 for a special election to fill the two vacant four-year (at-large) seats in the Congress of the FSM. The vacancy resulted from the elections of David W. Panuelo as president and Yosiwo P. George as vice president of FSM.
