Lou Leon Guerrero to deliver first SOTI address on Thursday

Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero will deliver her first State of the Island Address on Thursday at the Guam Congress building in Hagåtña, highlighting her first 100 days in office.

Leon Guerrero, former president of the Bank of Guam, is the island’s first female governor and the first Democrat to take control of Adelup since Carl Gutierrez left office in 2003.

The signing of the divisive recreational marijuana law is the governor’s most significant executive action so far. In her $963 budget request, Leon Guerrero is proposing an appropriation of $750,000 to build a testing facility.

The governor's office has yet to discuss executive action --if any at all-- on the Transition Committee's report and recommendations.

The SOTI event, which starts promptly at 6:30 p.m., will be broadcast live via the Guam Legislature Media YouTube channel and the PBS Guam YouTube channel.

The “People’s Reception,” which is open to the public, will follow at 7:30 p.m. at the Government House in Agana Heights.
