Taiwan visa-free entry for Palauans starts Dec.1

 

Koror- Starting Dec. 1, 2018, Palauans will be granted a visa-free entry to Taiwan.

 

The Taiwan embassy Koror announced that the visiting Palauans whose visits will have more than 90 days of entry.

In a reciprocal way, Taiwan visitors staying in Palau for no longer than 90 days can visit without applying for a visa.

 

“The governments of Republic of China (Taiwan) and Republic of Palau have reached an agreement on a 90-day visa-waiver program that will allow the citizens of both countries to enjoy closer interactions, at multiple levels, in such areas as medical treatment, tourism, business, trade and academic exchange,” according to a joint statement from the Taiwan Embassy and Palau State Ministry..

 

Palau is the latest addition to Taiwan’s visa waiver program. Taiwan’s Pacific allies Nauru, Tuvalu, and the Marshall Islands have earlier been accorded visa-free entry.

 

The press release stated that Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen has vowed to offer visa-free treatment to the six Pacific nations with whom Taiwan currently has diplomatic relations, during her South Pacific visit in October.

 

“Since then, the R.O.C. (Taiwan) Embassy in Palau and the Ministry of States of ROP started the negotiations for the Agreement on the Mutual Waiver of Visa Requirements and signed the said agreement on Oct. 25, 2018,” it added.

 

The requirements for visa-free entry are:  (1) hold an ordinary, official or diplomatic passport valid for at least 6 months; (2) not intend to work, study or reside in one another’s country; and (3) hold a return flight (boat) ticket or a flight (boat) ticket and valid visa for an onward destination.
