Leon Guerrero becomes Guam's first woman governor


Lou Leon Guerrero won Guam’s gubernatorial race, becoming the first woman to lead the island.

Based on the Guam Election Commission’s unofficial results, Leon Guerrero and her running mate Josh Tenorio, garnered 18,081 votes (50.70), eliminating the predicted runoff. Leon Guerrero, a Democrat, beat her Republican opponent Ray Tenorio , who received 9,419 votes (26.41). Write-in candidate Frank Aguon received 8,161 votes (22.88).

Michael San Nicolas beat Doris Flores Brooks in the congressional race.

Leevin Camacho won the race for the attorney general, garnering 23,802 votes over Doug Moylan’s 11,344 32.20.

Speaker Therese Terlaje topped the legislative race. The 35th Guam Legislature has 10 Democrats and five Republicans. Former senators, Tina Muna Barnes and Telo Taitague, are returning to the session hall.
