Hillbroom flunks drug test in Palau, runs and is arrested

Hillblom heir jailed for violating plea deal

 

 

 

 

Koror- DHL Larry Hillblom multi-millionaire heir Larry Imeong Hillbroom, after more than two days on the run, was apprehended at his girlfriend’s house at 1 p.m. Friday, according to the Palau Attorney General’s Office.

 

Attorney General Ernestine Rengiil confirmed the apprehension of Hillbroom, who was immediately sent to jail upon his arrest.

“Yes, Hillbroom went to jail right away,” Rengiil said.

 

Hillbroom is also set to appear before the court on July 31 for a hearing on the violation of his probation.

 

An arrest warrant was issued against  Hillbroom on Wednesday after he failed a drug test on July 16. The police however were not immediately able to find him, prompting a manhunt Thursday.

 

Rengiil said the condition set in the plea agreement was immediate incarceration should he test positive.

 

Hillbroom can face up to 10 years in jail for violation of one of the conditions of his probation.

 

 On June 24, Associate Justice Lourdes Materne sentenced Hillbroom of 10 years supervised probation, to be reduced to seven years supervised probation if he completes an inpatient rehabilitation program.

 

Hillbroom will serve five years jail time, commencing on September 25, 2018 if he fails to complete an inpatient rehabilitation program.

 

Hillbroom was also ordered to pay a fine of $50,000 to be deducted from the bond posted.
