Help choose Guam's favorite book

PBS Guam KGTF Channel 12 announces its participation in PBS’ national television series, “The Great American Read.” And just as PBS will be tabulating votes for “America’s Best-Loved Novel,” PBS Guam will be crowning “Guam’s Best-Loved Novel.”

“The Great American Read” will premiere May 23 at 8 p.m.

Hosted by television personality and journalist Meredith Vieira, the two-hour episode launch will introduce viewers to the full list of America’s 100 favorite novels selected through a demographically representative national survey conducted by YouGov.

The series will also feature interviews with celebrities, authors, superfans and everyday Americans discussing the way particular books have influenced them and their significance in American popular culture. Then after a multi-platform initiative throughout the summer, the series will resume in the fall with several themed episodes, including an exciting finale, culminating in the first-ever national vote to choose “America’s Best-Loved Novel.”

It will be the most expansive national celebration of books and reading aimed at engaging multigenerational readers across multiple platforms ever created.

Similarly, Guam readers will get a chance to vote for “Guam’s Best-Loved Novel.”

PBS Guam has collaborated with the Guam Public Library System and Bestseller Guam to bring reading awareness to the island community.

Voting will take place at the Hagatña Public Library and Bestseller Guam bookstores starting Tuesday.

“Guam’s Best-Loved Novel” will be announced in October and two eligible voters will be randomly drawn to win exclusive prize packages.
