Office of the CNMI Governor

Former Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands Governor Pedro Pangelinan Tenorio died early Monday morning at the Commonwealth Health Center on Saipan. He was 84.

Tenorio served two consecutive terms as governor after being elected in 1982 and then an unprecedented to date third term after the term of Governor Froilan Cruz Tenorio.

A statement from CNMI Delegate to Washington Gregorio ‘Kilili’ Sablan:

“Governor Teno was also a dear husband to his wife Sophie, and a beloved father, grandfather, uncle, friend, and mentor – famous for his generosity, his kindness, his sense of humor and keen understanding of people. He was one of my closest and greatest advisors, and I will miss his wise counsel.

Andrea and I join the people of the Commonwealth in offering our sincerest sympathies to the Tenorio family, and especially Auntie Sophie, children, and grandchildren.”
