A man who violated the conditions of his parole, after initially being convicted of family violence and terrorizing, will be deported.
Guam Governor Eddie Baza Calvo commuted the sentences of Ero Erwin and a second man, Pius Gilfigir. Their commutation starts the process of deportation. It also triggers their transfer from the jurisdiction of the Department of Corrections to that of the federal government, which will pick up the cost of housing as well as the cost of their deportation.
Erwin was initially convicted of family violence and terrorizing, both as third-degree felonies. He was released on parole in April 2015 with a full discharge date of Apr 1, 2018. Last year, he violated a condition of his parole, which was use and possession of controlled substances.
Gilfigir was convicted of second-degree criminal sexual conduct as a first-degree felony, and child abuse as a third-degree felony. He was sentenced in 2014 to 10 years in prison with credit for time served.
U.S. immigration officials identified both Erwin and Gilfigir as having committed deportable crimes. Officials placed a federal detainer on their files. Police notified the victims of both men. The victims noted their support of their deportations.
