USS Roosevelt tying up on Guam this week

The Nimitz-class USS Theodore Roosevelt aircraft carrier group will make its first port call during its Western Pacific deployment on Guam. The Roosevelt left San Diego, Oct. 6.

The Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyers USS Preble and USS Halsey will also be lowering their gangplanks on Guam after leaving Pearl Harbor, Hawaii Oct. 16.

As usual, the sailors will have to perform various PR and community service tasks for their guest port. According to a Navy news release, they'll be visiting with island Head Start students and clients at local adult daycare centers, among other things.
