No change required to JRM mask policy

The directive contained in the Department of Defense (DoD) memorandum released July 28 requires the wearing of masks by DoD personnel and onsite contractor employees in indoor settings in "areas of substantial or high community transmission," regardless of vaccination status.

Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC) has not identified Guam as a

high transmission area and additionally, according to current Government of

Guam public health data, Guam is considered to have "low" community

transmission rates under Centers for Disease Control (CDC) criteria.

Accordingly, the recently signed DoD policy does not require any change to

our mask policies at this time, unless a command implements more restrictive

guidance.

Joint Region Marianas (JRM) will continue to monitor the public

health situation and maintain the health and safety of the military and

civilian community on Guam.

Fully COVID-19 vaccinated personnel and patrons are not required to wear a

mask indoors or outdoors while on JRM installations.

A person is considered fully vaccinated at least two weeks after their final dose of a U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) authorized Covid-19 vaccine.

Those who are not fully vaccinated must continue to wear a mask indoors and in outdoor settings when social distancing can't be maintained.

While not on JRM installations, local mask mandates remain in place, which

requires a face covering regardless of vaccination status.

JRM will continue to take prudent measures to limit the spread of Covid-19

and will vigorously assess our Covid-19 policies to ensure we are protecting

our personnel and the local community while maintaining mission readiness. (JRM)
