Another day of worldwide war news, but the Pacific theatre is getting more and more attention. Stories continue to come out from the fierce Saipan fighting as shells and aerial bombs rain down on Guam. There's hopeful word of an ouster of General Tojo, the demonized plotter of the Pearl Harbor raid. And in San Francisco, an exploding munitions ship leaves the sort of devastation that became the norm during the war. And the siege of Guam makes it to page 5 of the Times!
